All You Need Is Love

Friends, family, loved ones, and all you fabulous people in between! It is lovely to be back in the blog-o-sphere,and I hope this entry finds everyone very well! For some people, summer and the sunshine and trips to the beach it brings are the best season of the year, and for others, autumn and the leaves changing into wondrous colors is their favorite time.Personally, my favorite time of year that I wait for in restless anticipation is….awards season!! Golden Globes, Oscars, SAG, and other acronyms that escape my mind at this late hour-how do I love thee?I simply can’t count the ways! Which brings me to a much hyped about film starring the delectable George Clooney and a savory cast that would leave any movie fan’s mouth watering (I’ve been on a diet-ahem, lifestyle change-for a few weeks now. Pardon the food analogies!). Up In The Air was an extremely well acted, well directed, well written movie, and also very relevant to the harsh reality of “downsizing” so many of us face in today’s harsh economic climate (I’ve got the unemployment checks to prove it!). Though most would interpret this movie as bitter sweet or perhaps even bleak, I’m choosing to take something different away from it: a message of hope. The people in the movie who were “fired” were actually real people, victims of corporate downsizing and an ailing economy, and at the end of the film they said there spouse or children or friends were the ones that kept them going in what was possibly the worst time of their life. As we all know, life can throw us challenging, wonderful, or even earth shattering curve balls, but what can save each of us in a time of despair is love; hopelessly sappy, I am aware (I should’ve warned you: Kleenex needed before reading!), but I hope that all of you find the love that I am lucky enough to have in my life. I have an incredible family, and an amazing fiancee, and awe-inspiring friends, and I try and remember everyday how fortunate I am to just be alive (traffic, mid terms, monthly bills, and all!). So thank you, Netflix, for not wait listing this fantastic movie for 1-3 months (sigh…it’s ok, I must say I heart you anyways!), and giving me the priviledge to watch a movie about the turbulent times of the present that also reminds you that at the end of the day, when you may not have anything else, you always have love : )
