Desperately Seeking Inspiration
Hello friends!I’m finally recovering from a mystery illness I had all last week that rendered me good for not much besides laying around in my pj’s and watching television (oh wait, that’s not any different from my everyday life…), and it’s blustery times like these I want to cuddle with a warm blanket, sip tea, and spend some quality time with my DVR. However, with a click of the remote, I noticed how my beloved list o’ shows was as empty as my savings account. Thus, I began lamenting on the quite sad state of modern television. Fellow t.v. watchers, I know I’m not the only one who’s noticed the last few years the constant barrage of medical and police show dramas. Yikes! Don’t get me wrong, there are some fantastic shows on t.v. (much love to McNamara Troy on Nip/Tuck!), but the days of incredible and memorable sitcoms seem to be over. It’s so rough in the world of television that so many shows are over before they begin, yet the only ones that seem to survive and constantly be developed are legal dramas and medical shows. Countless ones are in rotation at the networks, and I know the Hollywood writing well can’t be that dry where they can’t come up with a truly great, fresh, and original idea that doesn’t involve scalpels or handcuffs. (sigh) I must admit I’m biased, and I do yearn for the glory days of shows like Friends and Seinfeld. But here’s hoping the endless deluge of legal and medical dramas doesn’t necessarily come to an end, but that tasty new delights are created as well for our viewing pleasure. So I’ll anxiously await the upcoming t.v. seasons in hopes that this dry spell can be broken with a dash of imagination, and I’ll weather this storm with my umbrella in hand…and my latest Netflix arrival : )
