What’s new pussy cats?
Guys and girls, please take my hand (promise I don’t have cooties!) and allow me to take you for a stroll down memory lane. Close your eyes and think back to that little place that you either had lots of fun at or wished you could have skipped all together (I’ll let you guess which category I’m in- lol): high school. Homeroom, locker combinations, prom, football games, and of course the cliques. I think most of you lovely people were more than happy to escape the halls of your former alma mater, but sadly enough, some people never leave those drama-filled days behind. That brings me to my latest rant on the women of reality television. If you’ve watched the car accident called the Real Housewives of Atlanta (so bad you just can’t help but watch!), Rock of Love (or insert any VH1 reality show of your choosing), or even my personal favorite America’s Next Top Model (I’m smizing as we speak!), you’ll notice that the women either fight, hurl personal insults, are totally trashy, or are just plain mean episode after drama filled episode. I know people enjoy watching the cat fights and trash talking, but women let’s get real-it’s giving us a bad name! Women can be oppressed, depressed, and suppressed by certain men in society, so do we really need to bring each other down one “You’re a hot mess!” comment at a time? Let’s not give anyone ammunition to think any less of our fabulous gender, and let’s not tackle the nearest gal to your right just because she may have won immunity for next week’s challenge or say C U Next Tuesday to a cast mate who won a dream date with the “alleged” man of your dreams that night. So though I would have no issue burning my overpriced Victoria’s Secret bra, my personal plea to all of you women is to not set the feminist movement back and show people there’s more to women then cattiness and girl fights. I hate to admit it (but we’re all friends here, right?), next time I watch Kim on a Real Housewives marathon belt out “Tardy to the Party” (and sadly yes, that’s an actual song she made) I’ll secretly be hoping all reality show women retract their claws and give peace a chance!
