I heart Gossip Girl!
Hi all in internet land! I’m an unabashed couch potato-not the coolest thing to admit, but I will shout from the rooftops that I love my prime time television! However, as I am approaching the ripe age of 30, I have to be honest and say my taste in television shows tend to be of the slightly “younger” variety. The shows that fill my DVR are things like Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, and 90210, and needless to say I have been teased and taunted mercilessly about this. All of this got me thinking (along with yet another jab from my beloved): am I too old for high school television? You know what I think? I think great television knows no bounds and thus, no age limits!! Is the rush you get from your first kiss something you easily forget? Or the surge of mixed emotions you get when the boy you’ve secretly yearned for finally shoots a telltale look your way? Or even the memory of staying out late with your friends, the thought of a curfew being a distant concern because you know you’re having the time of your life and getting in trouble will be SO worth it? The reason I ask these questions is because the feelings and memories these “high school” shows are based on are timeless; everyone can identify with the situations and the emotions the characters are experiencing (well, maybe not sitting front row at a NY fashion show, but you know what I mean.Shout out to fellow NYC Prep fans!) So as some think I’m too old to watch shows about people who aren’t old enough to buy beer, I think a show with great acting and fantastic writing that conjure up memories of a more innocent (or perhaps even naughtier) time is always in style! Even if the actions take place at [fill in the blank] high school : )
