New Year in the Stars!

My dearest friends in internet land,it has been much too long, and I welcome you this cool January evening with a warm electronic embrace and open arms! The world of entertainment has certainly undergone many a’changes since we last met, and with a different entertainment ballgame means new players are entering and changing the game all the time. This brings me to the 2015 Golden Globes held this past weekend and the (unofficial) start of awards season, my favorite season of the year! With jabs (Clooney, I felt the sting!), surprises (Ruth Wilson from The Affair beating acting goddess Viola Davis-yowza!), and triumphs (we’re a nation united under Michael Keaton!), it was a fantastic evening in Hollywood and a magnificent way to kick off the season (in Tina and Amy I trust!). With socially progressive shows like Transparent and movies like Selma receiving recognition and small wonders like Boyhood garnering accolades, it is a wonderful reminder of what is awesome about Hollywood. With a bleak world of unnecessary sequels (sorry Horrible Bosses 2-I can’t protect the innocent!) and uninspired remakes (a recent movie that rhymes with ‘Fanny’), it is refreshing to see the Hollywood stars recognizing artistic films and shows with a sincere message, and it makes me hopeful for an inspirited year in film and television in 2015!

With that,I wish all of you a happy and healthy new year dressed up in oodles of love, and I look forward to an incredible new year of art that moves ,excites, and reminds us why we love all things entertainment! Until next time, be well, and your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to start to watch the movies that may potentially be in the Oscar circle-I know I need to get started on that homework assignment myself (shameless shoutout to Birdman, The Theory of Everything, and Wild-I’m holding a Fandango gift card courtesy of my amazing big sister with your names on it!). Friends, class is dismissed!
